Clip Clop Trailer Sales entered the Horse Trailer business in 2006 after being introduced to the European engineering used by the European Horse Trailer companies. It didn't take long to realize that the Europeans had been hauling horses......and big horses.....safely for a significant number of years with small tow vehicles. After more consideration, it made sense, after all trucks are a North American phenomena. 'Need is the mother of all inventions', and to Europe this meant that they had to engineer a horse trailer, that could safely carry their Warmbloods, while being pulled behind their smaller vehicles.
The European trailers we carry are engineered with an aerodynamic roofline to eliminate the vacuum that comes from a straight roof/back and then by placing the weight of the trailer load so it is situated over the axles, this means the trailer is carrying it's own weight vs relying on the tow vehicle to carry it for it. The tow vehicle is there to 'guide' the trailer vs 'carry' the trailer. This European engineering results in a horse trailer that has a light tongue weight that utilizes it's own mechanical inertia braking system that senses the correct amount of pressure required to safely slow or stop the trailer......without any judgment required for you. Since it's a mechanical system, you no longer require a trailer battery and a separate trailer brake control in your tow vehicle......and you will never have a dead trailer battery again!
In addition to the unique tow requirements, all the trailers are designed with the horse's safety and comfort in mind. These features have been incorporated in all models, (5 way adjustable, tinted, safety windows positioned for the comfort of your horse; extremely good ventilation to ensure a moderate, consistent temperature during travel; fiberglass roofs; trailer shocks, etc.), and can be found on all trailers in the line, regardless of price. When your horse travels in a European trailer, free from excess noise, vibration and rattling, they arrive free from stress and ready to perform. If they're relaxed then you're relaxed, resulting in a better ride at the other end.
